Novus Dae RSS Feed

What is RSS?
RSS is an XML-based file (using the Resource Description Framework (RDF) - a language for representing information about resources in the World Wide Web) that allows the syndication of lists of hyperlinks, along with other information, or metadata, that helps viewers decide whether they want to follow the link. RSS allows a person's computer to fetch and understand the information, so that all of the lists that person is interested in can be tracked and personalized for them.

Ok, what the hell does that mean?
It basically means a live bookmark or favorite place that updates automatically whenever the webmaster for that site changes content. For example, a news site can have an RSS feed that updates their current stories every couple hours. Instead of having to visit the site every two hours to see what has been updated/changed, you can go up to your favorite places, and checkout the live bookmarks for the site which contain the up-to-date stories.

Novus Dae uses an RSS feed for the performance schedule. Whenever performances are added or changed, the RSS feed gets updated as well. So, instead of having to visit novusdae.com every time you want to know what the current schedule is, subscribe to the RSS feed and just look at your bookmarks and/or favorite places to see where the band is playing.

How do I read or subscribe to an RSS feed?
Well this is different for everyone. Some people like a third-party (software program) RSS aggregator (puts them all together) to read RSS feeds, and other people just add them as live bookmarks in their browser. The second option is probably the most convenient and most used.

What browsers support live RSS feeds?
The most common browsers for RSS feed support are FireFox and Opera. The new Internet Explorer 7 will also have this feature when it is released in 2006.

What does an RSS feed look like in FireFox
Glad you asked.

How do I add an RSS feed to my FireFox bookmarks?
Click Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks -> File -> New Live Bookmark. Then enter the name (novus dae live performances, or something similar), and enter the feed location which is http://novusdae.com/scripts/ndrss.xml then click Ok.
